Payroll Correction in Frappe HR: Reversing LWP Days & Recalculating Pay
Payroll Correction lets you reverse a portion of an employee’s Leave Without Pay (LWP) days and have the system recalculate their earnings and deductions accordingly. It’s the fix for when LWP was applied that shouldn’t have been perhaps leave was wrongly marked unpaid, or attendance was corrected after a salary slip ran and the employee is owed back the amount that was deducted.
You will find it under Home > Human Resources > Payroll > Payroll Correction.
BEFORE YOU START
There should be processed Salary Slips with LWP (or absent) days applied for the employee and period, since a correction works by reversing days from those existing slips.
How to create a Payroll Correction
- Navigate to Payroll Correction. Go to HR > Payroll > Payroll Correction and click New.
- Select the Employee and Payroll Period. Choose the Employee whose LWP needs correcting and the Payroll Period. The system fetches the available salary slips that have LWP and absent days applied.
- Select the month for LWP reversal. In the Select Month for LWP Reversal field, pick the month from the dropdown. The system then fetches the relevant details: the Salary Slip Reference, Absent Days, LWP Days, Total Working Days, and Total LWP Applied.
- Enter the days to reverse. In the Days to Reverse field, enter how many of the LWP days should be reversed.
- Save. On saving, the arrear details are populated for Earnings, Deductions, and Accrued Benefits showing what will be paid back or adjusted for the reversed days.
- Submit. Once you’ve validated the figures, submit the document.
What happens on submission
When you submit a validated Payroll Correction, the system does two things for the reversed amount:
- It creates Additional Salary entries against the earnings and deductions, so the reversed amount is paid back (and adjusted) through payroll.
- It records the accruals in the Employee Benefit Ledger, keeping any accrued benefits tied to those days accurate.
Because the payout runs through Additional Salary, the corrected amount surfaces on the employee’s salary slip the same mechanism used for other one-off pay adjustments.
NOTE
Review the populated arrear details for Earnings, Deductions, and Accrued Benefits before you submit. Submission generates Additional Salary entries and benefit-ledger accruals, so confirming the figures at the save stage is the moment to catch anything that looks off.
TIP
Only reverse the days that genuinely shouldn’t have been LWP the figure in Days to Reverse drives the whole recalculation. Cross-check it against the Absent Days and LWP Days the system fetched, so the reversal matches what actually happened with the employee’s attendance.

SUMMARY
Payroll Correction reverses a portion of an employee’s LWP days and recalculates earnings and deductions accordingly. Create one by selecting the employee and payroll period (which fetches salary slips with LWP/absent days), choosing the month for reversal (fetching the salary slip reference, absent days, LWP days, total working days, and total LWP applied), and entering the Days to Reverse. Saving populates arrear details for earnings, deductions, and accrued benefits; submitting creates Additional Salary entries for the reversed amount and records accruals in the Employee Benefit Ledger, so the correction reaches the employee’s salary slip.
