Uploading Files

Frappe Drive allows you to upload files and folders directly from the web interface. Files can be added by dragging and dropping them into Drive or by selecting them using the upload option.

Uploaded files are securely stored and organized while preserving their folder structure when uploading directories.

Upload Files

To upload files to Frappe Drive:

1. Open the destination folder in Frappe Drive.
2. Drag and drop one or more files into the browser window, or click the Upload option.
3. Select the files or folders from your computer.
4. Wait for the upload to complete before closing the browser window.

Special File Types

Links

Frappe Drive supports creating links to external resources such as websites, cloud storage, or online documents.

Although links are not physical files, they behave like regular Drive items and support features such as:

• Sharing and permissions
• Favorites
• Organization within folders

You can create a link using the upload dialog or simply paste a URL into Drive, which automatically detects and creates the link.

Documents

Frappe Drive also includes Frappe Writer, a built-in document editor that allows you to create and edit collaborative documents directly within Drive.

Frappe Writer provides an experience similar to online document editors, making it easy to create documents without leaving Frappe Drive.

Best Practices

• Use folder uploads to preserve your existing directory structure.
• Store external resources as Links instead of duplicating files.
• Avoid modifying files directly from the server filesystem.
• Wait for uploads to finish before navigating away from the page.
• Use Frappe Writer when creating documents that require collaboration.
