Wiki Settings

Wiki Settings lets administrators configure the overall appearance, navigation, search experience, and behavior of the Wiki application from a single location.

These settings apply across your Wiki instance and allow you to customize branding, control access, enable search features, and configure user feedback.

Opening Wiki Settings

1. Open Desk.
2. Search for Wiki Settings using the Awesome Bar.
3. Open the Wiki Settings document.

General Settings

The General section allows you to configure branding, appearance, and access settings for your Wiki.

• Light Mode Logo — Upload the logo displayed in the top-left corner when using the light theme.
• Enable Dark Mode — Adds support for dark mode throughout the Wiki.
• Dark Mode Logo — Upload a separate logo that is displayed when dark mode is enabled.
• Default Wiki Space — Select the Wiki Space users are redirected to by default.
• Enable Table of Contents — Show or hide the automatic table of contents displayed beside wiki pages.
• Disable Guest Access — Restrict Wiki access to authenticated users only.

Navbar Settings

The Navbar section lets you customize the navigation experience across your Wiki.

• Navbar Items — Add custom navigation links similar to those available in the Website module.
• App Switcher List — Configure the items displayed in the application switcher dropdown.
• Add Search Bar — Display a search bar in the navigation bar for quicker page discovery.
• Use Redisearch for Search — Enable Redisearch-powered indexing for faster and more accurate search results.

Feedback Settings

The Feedback section controls how users can interact with your Wiki and allows administrators to add custom functionality.

• Enable Feedback — Allow users to submit feedback on Wiki pages.
• JavaScript — Add custom JavaScript that runs on every Wiki page for additional functionality or integrations.

Best Practices

• Upload separate logos for light and dark mode to maintain visibility.
• Enable the Table of Contents for long documentation pages.
• Use Redisearch when managing a large documentation library for improved search performance.
• Disable guest access if your documentation contains internal or confidential information.
• Test custom JavaScript thoroughly before deploying it to production.
