Working with Charts

Charts transform raw data into visual insights, making it easier to identify trends, compare values, monitor performance, and communicate findings. Instead of analyzing rows of numbers, you can present your data using visualizations such as bar charts, line charts, pie charts, and more.

Frappe Insights provides 8 different chart types, each designed for specific reporting and analysis needs.

Before You Begin

A chart is always created from an existing Query. Make sure you have created and saved a query before creating a chart.

Create Your First Chart

Creating a chart in Insights takes only a few steps:

  1. Open the Workbook that contains your queries.
  2. Select the Charts tab.
  3. Click New Chart.
  4. Select the Query that will provide the chart data.
  5. Choose the desired Chart Type.
  6. Configure the chart by selecting the required fields, measures, and display options.
  7. Enter a descriptive name for the chart.
  8. Click anywhere outside the title field to automatically save the chart.

Tip

Charts automatically refresh whenever the underlying query changes, ensuring your visualizations always display the latest available data.

Available Chart Types

Insights includes multiple chart types for visualizing different kinds of data. Each chart is designed for a specific use case, such as comparing values, identifying trends, showing proportions, or summarizing key metrics.

The following sections explain each chart type, when to use it, and how to configure it.
