Manage Teams

Teams help you organize users and manage access to Insights resources more efficiently. Instead of assigning permissions to individual users, you can grant access to an entire team. Every Insights installation includes a default Admin team with full access to all resources.

Prerequisite

Team management is available only after Team Permissions have been enabled from Settings → Permissions.

Create a Team

Create teams to organize users by department, location, project, or any other structure that fits your organization.

  1. Go to Settings → Permissions.
  2. Click Create Team.
  3. Enter a descriptive team name (for example, Sales Team West or Finance Team).
  4. Click Create to add the team.
Tip

Use clear and descriptive team names based on departments, regions, or business functions to make permission management easier as your organization grows.

Manage Team Members

After creating a team, you can add or remove members at any time.

  1. Select the team from the team list.
  2. Open the Members tab.
  3. Add users by entering their email addresses.
  4. Remove users whenever their access is no longer required.

Example Team Structure

Team: Sales Team West

Members:
• john@company.com
• jane@company.com
• robert@company.com

How Teams Work

  • Permissions are assigned to teams instead of individual users.
  • Users automatically inherit access to resources shared with their team.
  • A user can belong to multiple teams and receives the combined permissions from all assigned teams.
  • The default Admin team always has unrestricted access to all Insights resources.
Note

Removing a user from a team immediately revokes access to resources that are shared exclusively with that team. If the user belongs to another team with the same permissions, access will continue through that team.
