Price List
Price Lists allow you to maintain multiple prices for the same Item based on different business requirements, such as sales, purchases, promotional pricing, or customer-specific pricing.
Once a Price List is selected on a Sales or Purchase Invoice, Frappe Books automatically fetches the corresponding Item price, making invoicing faster and more consistent.
Tip
Price Lists must be enabled before they can be created or used in invoices.
Enable Price List
Before using Price Lists, enable the feature from the General Settings.
Enable the Enable Price List option to make the Price List feature available throughout the application.
Create a Price List
To create a new Price List:
- Click the + button to create a new Price List.
- Enter the required details.
- Add one or more Item Prices to the Price List.
- Click Save to create the Price List.
Price List Fields
The following fields are available while creating a Price List:

| Is Price List Enabled | Determines whether the Price List is active and available for use. |
| For Sales | Allows the Price List to be selected in Sales Invoices. |
| For Purchases | Allows the Price List to be selected in Purchase Invoices. |
Multiple Prices
A Price List can contain multiple prices for the same Item. When an Item is added to an invoice, Frappe Books automatically selects the first matching Item Price based on the selected Unit Type.
Using a Price List
To apply a Price List while creating an invoice:
- Create or open a Sales or Purchase Invoice.
- Select the required Price List in the invoice.
- Add Items to the invoice.
- Frappe Books automatically fetches the Item prices from the selected Price List.
Using Price Lists helps maintain consistent pricing while reducing manual data entry during invoicing.
Best Practices
- Create separate Price Lists for different sales campaigns or purchasing scenarios.
- Enable only the Price Lists that are actively used.
- Use the Sales and Purchase options appropriately to avoid selecting incorrect Price Lists.
- Maintain accurate Item Prices to ensure invoices use the correct rates.
- Use different Unit Types when managing multiple pricing structures for the same Item.
