Coupon Codes
Coupon Codes allow you to offer promotional discounts to customers during sales transactions. Each Coupon Code is linked to a Pricing Rule, ensuring that discounts are applied automatically based on predefined conditions.
Before creating Coupon Codes, you must configure the required Pricing Rules and enable the necessary features in Frappe Books.
Tip
Coupon Codes work together with Pricing Rules. The selected Pricing Rule determines the discount or promotional offer applied when a coupon is redeemed.
Enable Coupon Codes
Before using Coupon Codes, enable the required features from the system settings.
- Enable Discount Accounting.
- Enable Pricing Rule.
- Enable Coupon Code.
- Restart Frappe Books to display the Coupon Code module in the sidebar.
Important
Coupon Codes require both Discount Accounting and Pricing Rules to be enabled. Once the Coupon Code feature is enabled, it cannot be disabled.
Create a Coupon Code
To create a new Coupon Code:
- Click the + button.
- Enter the required Coupon Code details.
- Save the Coupon Code.
Coupon Code Fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Is Enabled | Activates or deactivates the Coupon Code. |
| Pricing Rule | Select the Pricing Rule that will be applied when the coupon is used. |
| Minimum Amount | Minimum order value required for the coupon to be valid. |
| Maximum Amount | Maximum order value eligible for the coupon. |
| Valid From | Start date from which the Coupon Code becomes active. |
| Valid To | Expiry date after which the Coupon Code can no longer be used. |
| Maximum Use | Maximum number of times the Coupon Code can be redeemed. |
| Used | Displays how many times the Coupon Code has already been applied. |
Apply a Coupon Code
Coupon Codes can be selected during a sales transaction to apply discounts automatically.

- Select a valid Coupon Code while creating a Sales Invoice.
- The linked Pricing Rule is automatically applied.
- The invoice total is recalculated according to the configured discount or promotional offer.
Note
The Pricing Rule applied through the Coupon Code can be viewed in the Pricing Rule Detail section of the Sales Invoice.
Best Practices
- Create and test Pricing Rules before assigning them to Coupon Codes.
- Use validity dates to automate promotional campaigns.
- Set a maximum usage limit to control coupon redemption.
- Monitor the Used count to track coupon performance.
- Review applied Pricing Rules to ensure discounts are calculated correctly.
