Balance Sheet
The Balance Sheet report provides a snapshot of your company’s financial position at a specific point in time. It summarizes the value of your Assets, Liabilities, and Equity, helping you understand the overall financial health of your business.
You can generate the Balance Sheet for monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly periods to analyze financial trends over time.
Tip
The Balance Sheet is commonly used to review the company’s financial position at the end of a reporting period and ensure that total assets equal the sum of liabilities and equity.

Report Filters
The Balance Sheet report includes several filters to customize the reporting period and display format.
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| Based On | Select whether the report is generated using Until Date or Fiscal Year filters. |
| Periodicity | Choose the reporting interval such as Monthly, Quarterly, Half-Yearly, or Yearly. |
| Date Range | The available date filters depend on the selected Based On option. |
| Consolidate Columns | Displays a single consolidated value by summing all reporting periods. |
| Hide Group Amounts | Displays only ledger account balances by hiding calculated group account totals. |
Based On Options
The Based On filter determines how the reporting period is selected.
| Based On | Available Filters |
|---|---|
| Until Date | To Date and Count |
| Fiscal Year | From Year and To Year |
Until Date Filters
When Based On is set to Until Date, the following filters are available:
- To Date: Specifies the ending date for the report. By default, this is tomorrow’s date.
- Count: Determines how many reporting periods are displayed based on the selected periodicity.
For example, if Periodicity is set to Monthly and Count is 3, the report displays Balance Sheet values for the last three months ending on the selected To Date.
Fiscal Year Filters
When Based On is set to Fiscal Year, use the following filters:
- From Year: Specifies the starting fiscal year.
- To Year: Specifies the ending fiscal year.
The number of report columns depends on the selected Periodicity.
Consolidate Columns
Enable Consolidate Columns to combine values from all displayed periods into a single summary column, making it easier to view overall balances.
Hide Group Amounts
The Balance Sheet displays both Group Accounts (such as Current Assets) and Ledger Accounts (such as Cash or Debtors).
Since Group Account balances are calculated from the ledger accounts beneath them, enabling Hide Group Amounts displays only individual ledger accounts for a cleaner report.
Folding Group Accounts
Group Account rows can be expanded or collapsed to simplify navigation.
- Click a Group Account row to hide all child accounts.
- Click it again to expand and display the underlying ledger accounts.
Best Practices
- Use Monthly or Quarterly periodicity to monitor financial trends.
- Enable Consolidate Columns when you need an overall summary instead of period-wise values.
- Use Hide Group Amounts to focus on individual ledger account balances.
- Collapse group accounts when reviewing large Balance Sheet reports.
