Stock Ledger
The Stock Ledger is an inventory report that records every stock transaction in your business. Each inventory transaction, such as a Shipment, Purchase Receipt, or Stock Movement, creates entries in the Stock Ledger.
The report helps you monitor changes in stock quantity, inventory value, and valuation rate over time, providing complete visibility into inventory movements.

Use the Stock Ledger to investigate inventory movements, verify stock valuation, and trace the history of individual items across locations.

What the Stock Ledger Shows
Each Stock Ledger entry records the inventory impact of a transaction, including:
- Stock quantity changes
- Inventory value changes
- Valuation rate updates
- Transaction reference details
- Item and Location information
Report Filters
The Stock Ledger provides several filters to help you locate specific inventory transactions.
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| Ref Type | Displays entries created by a specific transaction type, such as Shipment or Stock Movement. |
| Ref Name | Shows all Stock Ledger entries created by a particular transaction. Requires Ref Type to be selected first. |
| Item | Displays entries related to a selected inventory item. |
| Location | Filters entries for a specific inventory location. |
| From Date | Shows entries created on or after the selected date. |
| To Date | Shows entries created up to the selected date. |
| Group By | Groups report entries based on the selected criteria, such as Transaction Reference. |
| Ascending Order | Displays entries from oldest to newest instead of the default newest-first order. |
Reference Filters
Use the reference filters when you want to investigate inventory entries generated by a specific transaction.
- Ref Type limits the report to one transaction type.
- Ref Name displays all Stock Ledger entries created by a single transaction.
For example, selecting Shipment as the Ref Type displays only inventory movements created from Shipment transactions.
Grouping Entries
The Group By option organizes Stock Ledger entries into logical groups for easier analysis.
For example, choosing Reference groups all inventory entries generated by the same inventory transaction.
Sorting Entries
By default, the Stock Ledger displays the most recent transactions first.
Enable Ascending Order to display transactions chronologically from the oldest entry to the newest.
Best Practices
- Filter by Item when investigating stock movements for a specific product.
- Use Location filters to review inventory activity at a warehouse or store.
- Group entries by Reference to analyze complete inventory transactions.
- Review valuation rate changes regularly to understand inventory costing.
- Use chronological sorting when auditing historical inventory movements.
