Loan Repayment Repost

Loan Repayment Repost in Frappe Lending allows users to reprocess loan repayments from a selected date. It cancels and recreates repayment entries from that point onward, ensuring that related accruals, demands, allocations, GL Entries, and loan classification records are regenerated correctly.

This feature is useful when a loan requires correction due to a backdated transaction, incorrect repayment entry, or changes that impact subsequent loan calculations. Instead of manually cancelling and recreating each repayment, users can repost the affected repayment transactions automatically.

Did You Know?

Loan Repayment Repost helps restore accurate loan calculations by rebuilding repayment-related transactions after corrections or backdated changes.

Accessing Loan Repayment Repost

Loan Repayment Repost can be accessed from the Loan Management section.

Home > Loan Management > Loan Repayment Repost > New

Prerequisites

Before creating a Loan Repayment Repost, ensure the following information is available:

  • The loan that requires reposting.
  • The date from which repayment reprocessing should begin.
  • The specific Loan Disbursement, if reposting is required only for a particular disbursement.

Creating a Loan Repayment Repost

Follow these steps to configure and submit a repost request:

  1. Select the Loan that needs to be reprocessed.
  2. Optionally select a Loan Disbursement to restrict reposting to a specific disbursement.
  3. Set the Repost Date. Repayments submitted on or after this date will be loaded for reposting.
  4. Select the required reprocessing options based on the correction required.
  5. Review Entries To Repost and Entries To Cancel.
  6. Save and Submit the document.

Short repost operations are processed immediately, while reposts covering older transactions are processed through background jobs.

Loan Repayment Repost Fields

Field Description
Loan The loan account for which repayments need to be reprocessed. This field is mandatory.
Loan Disbursement Optional field used to limit reposting to a specific loan disbursement.
Repost Date The date from which repayment reprocessing begins. Entries before this date remain unchanged.
Entries To Repost Automatically populated list of repayment entries that will be cancelled and recreated.
Entries To Cancel Lists repayments that should be permanently cancelled instead of being reposted.
Cancel Future EMI Demands Reverses EMI demands generated on or after the repost date before reprocessing.
Cancel Future Accruals and Demands Reverses interest accruals and penalty demands created after the repost date.
Clear Demand Allocation Before Repost Resets affected demands to their original outstanding amounts and removes previous allocations before reposting.
Delete GL Entries Permanently removes old GL Entries instead of creating reversal entries.

How Loan Repayment Repost Works

When submitted, the repost process runs in two major stages:

1. Cancel Existing Transactions

During the cancellation stage:

  • Repayments on or after the Repost Date are reversed.
  • Related demands, security deposits, restructures, and GL Entries are rolled back.
  • Entries listed in Entries To Cancel are cancelled permanently.
  • Loan paid totals are recalculated using repayments before the Repost Date.

2. Re-book Repayments

After cancellation, remaining repayments are processed again in sequence.

The system regenerates:

  • Loan demands and accruals.
  • Repayment allocations.
  • Reschedule and write-off related processing.
  • Accounting entries.
  • Closing accrual and demand calculations.

If the loan status changes after reposting, the loan classification is refreshed accordingly.

Note

Loan Repayment Repost should be used carefully because it modifies repayment history and regenerates dependent loan transactions.

Background Processing

For repost operations where the Repost Date is more than six months old, Frappe Lending processes the request as a background job.

Status Description
Queued The repost request has been submitted and is waiting for background processing.
In Process The system is currently reprocessing repayment transactions.
Draft The repost failed, changes were rolled back, and the request can be retried.

If a background repost fails, the system restores the previous state, changes the status back to Draft, and adds an error comment for review.

Repost Restrictions

  • A repost request already in Queued or In Process status cannot be submitted again.
  • Entries before the selected Repost Date are not modified.
  • Only affected repayment transactions are included in the repost process.

Best Practices

  • Verify the Repost Date carefully before submitting.
  • Use Loan Disbursement filtering when only one disbursement requires correction.
  • Review Entries To Repost and Entries To Cancel before processing.
  • Use reposting only when repayment history requires recalculation.
  • Monitor background job status for older repost operations.
