Loan Transfer

Loan Transfer is the process of moving one or more loans from one branch to another within the same financial institution. The transfer changes the operational ownership of the loan while preserving the original loan terms, such as the principal amount, interest rate, and repayment schedule.

In Frappe Lending, Loan Transfer allows organizations to transfer individual or multiple loans between branches while automatically updating branch information and creating the necessary accounting entries.

Did You Know?

Loan Transfer not only updates the branch associated with a loan but also generates journal entries to transfer the corresponding accounting balances between branches.

Accessing Loan Transfer

To create or manage loan transfers, navigate to:

Home > Lending > Transfers > Loan Transfer

Prerequisites

Before creating a Loan Transfer, ensure the following record is available:

  • Branch (configured as an Accounting Dimension)

Note

The Branch document must be configured as an Accounting Dimension so that branch-wise accounting entries can be generated during the transfer process.

Creating a Loan Transfer

Follow these steps to transfer loans between branches:

  1. Configure the Branch document as an Accounting Dimension.
  2. Open the Loan Transfer List.
  3. Click on Add Loan Transfer.
  4. Optionally select an Applicant if only that applicant’s loans need to be transferred.
  5. Select the From Branch and To Branch.
  6. Save the document.
  7. The system fetches all eligible loans linked to the source branch and generates the required Journal Entries based on the current balances.
  8. Review the generated information and submit the Loan Transfer.
