Customizing Workspaces

ERPNext allows users to customize both the Workspace itself and the
Workspace Page. Workspace customization focuses on managing the workspace
structure, while Workspace Page customization is used to arrange and configure the
blocks displayed inside a workspace.

Summary

  • Edit workspace details such as title, icon, and visibility.
  • Create duplicate workspaces for similar layouts.
  • Hide or delete workspaces when no longer needed.
  • Rearrange workspaces from the sidebar.
  • Add, edit, resize, remove, and reposition workspace blocks.
Tip
Workspace customization and Workspace Page customization are different. Use the sidebar to manage workspaces, and switch to Edit Mode to customize the blocks inside a workspace.

Workspace Customization Modes

Every workspace supports two operating modes:

  • Read Only Mode for viewing the workspace.
  • Edit Mode for customizing the workspace page layout and blocks.
Changes made through the sidebar are saved automatically, while changes made to the workspace page require clicking the Save button.

Customize Workspaces

Workspace-level customization is performed directly from the sidebar. Apart from creating a new workspace, nearly every management task can be completed here.

Edit Workspace Details

Modify the basic information of an existing workspace whenever required.

You can update:

  • Title
  • Icon
  • Parent Workspace
  • Public or Private visibility

Create a Duplicate Workspace

Duplicate an existing workspace to reuse its layout and configuration instead of creating one from scratch.

Duplicating a workspace is useful when multiple departments require similar dashboards with only minor changes.

Delete a Workspace

Delete workspaces that are no longer required.

Warning
Deleting a workspace permanently removes it. Ensure it is no longer needed before deletion.

Hide a Workspace

Hidden workspaces remain available but are removed from the sidebar until they are shown again.

Private workspaces can be hidden by their owners, while only users with the Workspace Manager role can hide public workspaces.

Rearrange Workspace Position

Drag and drop workspaces within the sidebar to reorder them or change their parent-child relationship.

Organizing frequently used workspaces near the top of the sidebar improves navigation and productivity.

Customize Workspace Pages

Workspace Page customization controls the blocks displayed within a workspace. Enter Edit Mode to modify the page layout.

Available Page Customizations

  • Add new blocks
  • Edit existing blocks
  • Delete unnecessary blocks
  • Resize block widths
  • Rearrange block positions

Add a New Block

Add additional blocks to display shortcuts, charts, reports, links, cards, or other workspace components.

Edit Existing Blocks

Update the configuration of individual workspace blocks without rebuilding the entire page.

Delete Blocks

Remove blocks that are no longer useful to simplify the workspace interface.

Resize Blocks

Adjust the width of blocks to better utilize the available workspace area and improve readability.

Rearrange Blocks

Drag and drop blocks to organize the workspace in a way that matches your team’s workflow.

Workspace page changes are not applied until you click Save. You can also discard unsaved changes before exiting Edit Mode.
