Workspace Blocks
Blocks are the building blocks of a workspace. You can add different types of blocks, edit them, and arrange them to create a fully customizable workspace that fits your requirements.
Tip:
Workspaces currently support 9 different block types, and new blocks will continue to be introduced in future releases to provide even greater flexibility.
Available Workspace Blocks
1. Heading
The Heading block is used to create section titles and organize different parts of your workspace.
Use heading blocks to clearly separate different sections and improve workspace readability.
2. Text
The Text block is used to add paragraphs, descriptions, or any explanatory content within the workspace.
Both Heading and Text blocks include an inline formatting toolbar.
The toolbar currently supports:
- Heading levels (H1 to H6)
- Bold formatting
- Italic formatting
- Hyperlinks
Tip:
Use heading styles instead of manually increasing font size to maintain a consistent workspace structure.
3. Card
The Card block provides a collection of links for quick navigation within ERPNext.
Each link can point to a:
- DocType
- Report
- Page
Cards help users access frequently used pages from a single location.
4. Chart
The Chart block allows you to display any existing Dashboard Chart directly inside the workspace.
5. Shortcut
The Shortcut block provides quick access to a DocType, Report, or Page.
Shortcuts can also be customized by selecting:
- The view to open
- Filters to apply automatically
- A record count displayed as a pill
Tip:
Applying filters to shortcuts lets users open pre-filtered views instantly, reducing navigation time.
6. Spacer
The Spacer block adds empty space between other workspace blocks.
It can also be used to align or position blocks by inserting white space before or after them.
Spacer blocks improve workspace layout without affecting functionality.

The Onboarding block helps guide first-time users through a module or workflow.
Each onboarding step can include:
- A description
- A link to documentation
- A video tutorial

You can also configure filters to display only relevant records.
In read-only mode, users can:
- Refresh the list
- Modify the applied filters
