Blog Post

A Blog Post is an article published on your website that helps you share news, insights, product updates, and other valuable information with your audience. Maintaining a blog also improves website engagement and supports search engine optimization (SEO).

Home > Website > Blog > Blog Post

Tip:

Publishing informative and consistent blog posts helps build credibility while keeping visitors informed about your business and products.

How to Create a Blog Post

  1. Open the Blog Post list.
  2. Click New.
  3. Enter the Title, Blog Category, Blogger, and the blog content.
  4. Enable the Published option.
  5. Click Save.

The Blog Intro is a short summary displayed below the blog title and before the main content. It provides readers with a quick overview of the article.

You can write blog content using Rich Text, Markdown, or HTML, depending on your preferred editing style.

After saving the blog, click See on Website from the sidebar to preview the published page.

Reader Interaction

Comments

Readers can leave comments on published blog posts.

Guest users must provide their Name and Email Address before submitting a comment.

Note:

Enable the Disable Comments option if you do not want readers to comment on a specific blog post.

Likes

Readers can express appreciation for a blog post by clicking the Like button.

If you do not want likes to be available, enable the Disable Likes option for that blog post.

Email Notifications

Whenever someone comments on or likes a blog post, an email notification is sent to the assigned blogger with a link to the related activity.

To stop receiving these notifications, disable the Enable Email Notification option.

Tip:

Keep email notifications enabled if you actively engage with readers and want to respond promptly to comments.

Features

1. Blogger

A Blogger represents the author of one or more blog posts.

Home > Website > Blog > Blogger

For each blogger, you can configure:

  • Name
  • Short biography
  • Profile avatar

The blogger’s profile information is displayed at the end of published blog posts.

Creating individual blogger profiles helps readers identify article authors and improves content credibility.

2. Blog Category

Blog Categories allow you to organize related blog posts into groups, making it easier for visitors to browse your content.

Home > Website > Blog > Blog Category

Selecting See on Website from a Blog Category displays all blog posts assigned to that category.

Tip:

Use meaningful categories to help readers quickly discover related articles.

3. SEO Meta Tags

Meta tags provide search engines and social media platforms with information about your blog post.

Under the SEO section, you can configure:

  • Meta Description
  • Meta Image

ERPNext automatically generates a search engine preview based on these values.

Note:

If no meta description is provided, ERPNext uses the Blog Intro or the first 140 characters of the article. If no meta image is specified, the first image in the blog post is used.

Well-written meta descriptions and relevant images improve your blog’s appearance in search engine results and social media shares.

Previewing Social Media Shares

After publishing your blog, you can preview how it appears when shared on social media platforms by using their official debugging tools.

  • Facebook – Sharing Debugger
  • X (Twitter) – Card Validator
  • LinkedIn – Post Inspector

Simply enter the published blog URL into the appropriate tool to review how the page metadata will be displayed when shared.

Best Practice:

Always preview your blog before sharing it on social media to verify that the title, description, and featured image appear correctly.
