Live Classes
Frappe Learning allows moderators to conduct live sessions directly from a batch using either Zoom or Google Meet. Once a live class is scheduled, all enrolled learners automatically receive a calendar invitation, and upcoming sessions appear on the batch page where students can join with a single click.
Before You Begin
Live classes require a configured Google Calendar, regardless of whether you use Zoom or Google Meet. Google Calendar is responsible for creating calendar events and sending invitations to learners.
Step 1: Configure Google Calendar
Before creating any live class, configure Google Calendar for the moderator account.
- Enable Google Settings.
- Connect the moderator’s Google Calendar.
- Complete the Google Calendar integration before configuring Zoom or Google Meet.
Google Calendar integration is mandatory for both Zoom and Google Meet because it creates the calendar event and automatically sends invitations to learners.
Step 2: Connect Your Conferencing Provider
Frappe Learning supports two conferencing platforms:
- Zoom
- Google Meet
Zoom Integration
To use Zoom for live classes, create a Server-to-Server OAuth App from the Zoom App Marketplace.
After creating the application, you’ll receive the following credentials:
- Account ID
- Client ID
- Client Secret
Open the Zoom Settings DocType and enter these credentials to connect your Zoom account.
Automatic Recording
If you want every live class to be recorded automatically, enable Automatic Recording in your Zoom account settings before scheduling classes.
Once configured, every live class created in Frappe Learning is automatically synchronized with your Zoom account, and calendar invitations are sent to all enrolled learners.
Google Meet Integration
After configuring Google Calendar:
- Go to Settings → Google Meet.
- Click + New.
- Add your Google Meet account details.
- Save the configuration.
Step 3: Create a Live Class
After completing the required integrations:
- Open the batch where you want to schedule the session.
- Select the preferred Conferencing Provider.
- Select the configured Google Meet Account or Zoom Account.
- Open the Classes tab.
- Create a new live class by entering the required session details.
What Happens After Scheduling?
- Calendar invitations are automatically sent to every enrolled learner.
- The live class appears in the batch’s Classes section.
- Students can view all upcoming sessions from their batch page.
- Learners can join the live session directly from the batch when it begins.
Frappe Learning simplifies virtual classroom management by integrating Google Calendar with Zoom or Google Meet. Moderators can schedule sessions, automatically notify learners with calendar invitations, and manage all upcoming live classes directly from the batch page.
