Understanding the Frappe Learning Interface
Frappe Learning provides two separate interfaces that serve different purposes. The Learning Portal is designed for learners and instructors, while the Desk provides administrative tools for managing the platform.
The Two Interfaces
Learning Portal
The Learning Portal is the primary interface where instructors create courses and learners access educational content. Most day-to-day activities, including course creation, enrollment, learning, and student interaction, take place here.
Desk
The Desk is the administrative backend used to manage the Learning platform. Administrators can configure system settings, manage users, review data, customize workflows, and perform other administrative tasks.
Most users spend the majority of their time in the Learning Portal. The Desk is primarily intended for administration and advanced configuration.
Switching Between Interfaces
You can move between the Learning Portal and the Desk at any time.
Open the Learning Portal
- Click the Learning icon from the Desk dashboard.
- Or navigate directly to your site’s /lms URL.
Open the Desk
- Click your User Profile icon.
- Select Apps → Desk.
- Or navigate directly to your site’s /desk URL.
Navigating the Learning Portal
Sidebar
The left sidebar provides quick access to the main sections of the platform, including:
- Courses
- Programs
- Batches
Instructor / Student View
The Instructor/Student toggle at the top of the homepage allows instructors to switch between creator and learner views. This makes it easy to preview courses exactly as students will experience them.
User Menu
Click your profile avatar to access personal settings, including:
- Account Settings
- Theme Preferences (Light or Dark Mode)
- User Profile options
Help Center
The Help icon, located near the bottom of the sidebar, provides quick access to learning resources.
- If the Getting Started setup is incomplete, it opens the onboarding wizard.
- Once onboarding is finished, it opens the Help Center for documentation and guidance.
Frappe Learning separates the learning experience from platform administration through two dedicated interfaces. The Learning Portal is where instructors and learners interact with courses, while the Desk provides administrative tools for managing the entire LMS. You can switch between both interfaces at any time based on your role and task.
