Configure General and Default Settings

The General and Defaults settings control the overall behavior and formatting of your Frappe CRM instance. These settings apply across the entire application and are typically configured once during the initial setup.

Tip

Review these settings before inviting your team. Configuring them early helps ensure a consistent experience for all users.

Open General Settings

  1. Go to Settings → General.
  2. Configure the available options.
  3. Save your changes.

General Settings

These settings determine how Frappe CRM responds to incoming emails, comments, and customer communications.

Update Timestamp on New Communication

When enabled, the Last Modified timestamp of a lead or deal is updated whenever a new email or comment is added.

This makes it easier to identify records with recent customer activity.

Note

If this option is disabled, incoming emails and comments do not update the record’s Last Modified timestamp.

Mark Lead/Deal as Replied on Response

Automatically changes the status of a lead or deal to Replied when a customer responds to one of your emails.

This option is available only when SLA management is enabled.

Reopen Lead/Deal on New Communication

Automatically changes the status of a lead or deal back to Open whenever a new customer email is received.

This option is also available only when SLA management is enabled.

Open Default Settings

  1. Go to Settings → Defaults.
  2. Configure the default formatting options.
  3. Save your changes.

Default Settings

Default settings determine how numbers, currencies, dates, and times are displayed throughout Frappe CRM.

Currency

Sets the default currency used for newly created CRM records.

Individual records can still use a different currency if required.

Currency Precision

Defines the number of decimal places displayed for currency values.

For example, a precision of 2 displays values such as 1250.50.

Number Format

Controls how numbers are displayed throughout the application, including thousands separators and decimal separators.

Float Precision

Specifies the number of decimal places displayed for non-currency numeric fields.

Date Format

Determines how dates appear throughout the CRM.

For example:

  • dd-mm-yyyy
  • mm/dd/yyyy
  • yyyy-mm-dd

Time Format

Controls how time values are displayed, including whether seconds are shown.

Best Practice

Choose date, time, and number formats that match your organization’s regional standards to reduce confusion when users collaborate across the CRM.

When Should You Change These Settings?

  • During the initial CRM setup.
  • When your organization adopts a different currency or regional format.
  • When enabling SLA-based workflows for customer communication.
  • When standardizing how information is displayed for all users.

Important

These settings apply across your entire Frappe CRM instance. Any changes affect all users unless a particular field or record allows individual overrides.
