Custom Fields

Custom Fields allow you to extend Lead and Deal records with additional information that is specific to your business. Instead of being limited to the default CRM fields, you can create your own fields to capture the data your sales team needs throughout the sales process.

Whether you want to track customer preferences, qualification details, internal references, or any other business-specific information, Custom Fields help you tailor Frappe CRM to match your workflow.

Tip

Plan the information your sales team needs before adding custom fields. Keeping only relevant fields makes forms easier to use and improves data quality.

What are Custom Fields?

Frappe CRM includes standard fields such as contact details, organization, owner, status, and other common sales information.

If your business requires additional information that isn’t available by default, you can create custom fields and display them directly on Lead and Deal pages.

Add Custom Fields

To add or organize custom fields:

  1. Open a Lead or Deal.
  2. Click the Edit icon in the first section of the Data panel.
  3. The Layout Builder opens with the current document type selected automatically.
  4. Add new fields or sections as required.
  5. Drag and drop fields or sections to rearrange the layout.
  6. Save your changes.

Using the Layout Builder

The Layout Builder lets Sales Managers organize how information appears on Lead and Deal pages.

  • Add Fields — Insert new custom fields into the layout.
  • Add Sections — Group related fields under meaningful section headings.
  • Drag and Drop — Reorder fields and sections to match your preferred layout.
  • Rename Sections — Customize section titles for better organization.

Preview Changes

Before saving your layout, you can use the Show Preview option to see how the customized page will appear.

This allows you to verify field placement and section organization before making the changes available to users.

Customize Your Workflow

Use sections to group related information together, such as qualification details, project requirements, customer preferences, or internal sales information. A well-organized layout helps users find information faster.

Important Notes

  • Section labels can be edited directly from the Layout Builder.
  • Field labels and field properties cannot be edited from the Layout Builder.
  • To modify field properties, use the Customize Form feature in the Frappe Framework.
  • The Contacts section on Deal records cannot be removed, although it can be renamed or repositioned.
  • Some field types, such as Rating, Geolocation, and Duration, are currently displayed as data fields in the interface.

  • Customer preferences.
  • Internal reference numbers.
  • Project or implementation details.
