Move a Site to a Different Region

If your users are located in a different geographic region or you want to optimize latency, you can migrate your site to another region directly from the Migrations tab. Frappe Cloud handles the migration process while allowing you to select the target deployment region.

Note

If your site is running on a Shared Bench, you can skip the private bench region setup steps. Shared bench migrations handle the required infrastructure automatically.

Add the Target Region

If your site is hosted on a Private Bench, you must first provision the target region before migrating the site.

  1. Open your Private Bench.
  2. Navigate to the Regions tab.
  3. Click Add Region.
  4. Select the region where you want your site to be deployed.

Wait for Bench Provisioning

After adding the region, Frappe Cloud automatically creates a new bench in the selected region.

  1. Go to the Sites tab.
  2. Locate the newly created bench.
  3. Wait until its status changes from Installing to Active.

Start the Region Migration

  1. Open your Site.
  2. Navigate to the Migrations tab.
  3. Click Trigger Migration.
  4. Select Move Site to Different Region as the migration type.
  5. Choose the target region.
  6. Review the configuration and confirm the migration.

Migration Completion

Once the migration finishes successfully, your site will be deployed and running in the selected region. You can verify the site’s location and continue using it normally.

Best Practice

Schedule region migrations during periods of low user activity to minimize disruption. Ensure the destination bench is fully active before starting the migration for a smoother experience.
