Frappe Cloud supports multiple cloud providers, each offering different capabilities. While all providers can host Frappe benches and sites, advanced infrastructure features may vary depending on the provider.

Support Recommendations
Shared Instance plans include limited Level 2 Frappe Cloud support.
Since multiple customers share the same infrastructure, workloads can fluctuate and server throttling may occasionally affect performance. In these situations, it can be difficult to determine whether an issue originates from the application or the shared infrastructure.
For this reason, performance-related issues on Shared Instances are not fully supported.
Shared Instances are best suited for:
- Development environments
- Testing and UAT
- Learning and experimentation
For production deployments, Dedicated Instances are strongly recommended to ensure predictable performance and comprehensive support coverage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn’t Add-on Storage available on Hetzner?
Hetzner servers typically use a single root disk. Expanding storage requires upgrading the server plan. Support for independent add-on storage is planned for a future release.
Why is disk size reduction available only in AWS Mumbai?
Cloud providers do not natively support shrinking disks. AWS Mumbai supports this capability because its infrastructure uses multiple EBS disks, allowing Frappe Cloud to implement disk reduction safely.
Why are plan downgrades restricted on Hetzner?
Hetzner permanently increases root disk size when a larger plan is selected. Since the disk cannot be reduced afterwards, downgrading to plans with smaller disks is not possible. As an alternative, you can upgrade only CPU and memory without changing disk size.
Why are Server Snapshots unavailable on OCI and Hetzner?
Server Snapshots depend on AWS-specific APIs and infrastructure. Although dashboard snapshots are unavailable on OCI and Hetzner, Frappe Cloud still maintains machine snapshots for approximately two days to support disaster recovery when needed.
Why isn’t Auto Scaling available on Hetzner?
Application Auto Scaling is currently in beta and has only been released for AWS and OCI. Support for Hetzner is planned after the feature becomes generally available.
Why is Physical Backup limited to AWS?
Physical database backups rely on AWS EC2 and EBS snapshot capabilities. On other providers, Frappe Cloud uses logical backups instead, which may require additional time during updates or migrations of very large sites.
What is the Frappe Cloud Provider?
Frappe Compute is Frappe’s own hosting platform. It is currently in its early stages and should be considered experimental, with fewer guarantees than the established cloud providers.

For mission-critical production environments, AWS Dedicated Instances currently provide the most comprehensive feature set, including server snapshots, physical backups, auto scaling, and full support coverage.
