Upgrade a Site Version
Frappe Cloud allows you to upgrade your site’s Frappe and ERPNext version directly from the site dashboard. The upgrade process differs slightly depending on whether your site is hosted on a private bench or a public bench.
Always review your custom apps and take a recent backup before upgrading your site version, especially in production environments.
Upgrade a Site on a Private Bench
- Open your Frappe Cloud Site Dashboard.
- Navigate to Actions → Version Upgrade.
- If your bench contains custom Frappe apps, select the appropriate branch for each app.
- Click Upgrade.
Frappe Cloud creates a new bench with the selected version and automatically migrates your site to the newly created bench once the upgrade is complete.
Upgrade a Site on a Public Bench
- Open your Frappe Cloud Site Dashboard.
- Navigate to Actions → Version Upgrade.
- If a newer version is available, click Upgrade.
The platform will upgrade your site to the latest supported version available on the public bench.
After the Upgrade
Once the upgrade completes successfully, your site will begin running on the selected version. Verify that your applications, customizations, and integrations are functioning as expected before resuming normal operations.
Schedule version upgrades during maintenance windows or periods of low user activity. If your site includes custom apps, ensure they are compatible with the target Frappe version before starting the upgrade.
