Creating a New Bench on Frappe Cloud
A bench is an isolated Frappe environment that can host one or more sites. Creating a bench allows you to choose the desired Frappe Framework version, deployment region, and manage your own application environment.
Before You Begin
Ensure you’re logged in to your Frappe Cloud account and have selected the Frappe Framework version and deployment region appropriate for your project.
Step 1: Open the Benches Dashboard
From your Frappe Cloud dashboard, navigate to the Benches section and click the + New button.
Step 2: Configure the Bench
Provide the required details for the new bench:
- Select the desired Frappe Framework version (this also determines the bench version).
- Choose the deployment region.
- Enter a unique and descriptive bench name.
Step 3: Create the Bench
Click Create Bench to create the bench group.
After the process completes, you’ll be redirected to the newly created bench dashboard.
Step 4: Deploy the Bench
Creating a bench does not automatically deploy it.
To deploy the environment:
- Click the Updates Available button.
- Review the deployment details.
- Click Next.
- Select Deploy to begin the deployment process.
Step 5: Monitor Deployment
You can track the deployment progress from the Deploys tab on the bench dashboard.
Once deployment finishes successfully, your private bench is ready for creating sites, installing applications, and managing your Frappe environment.
Tip
A bench serves as the foundation for one or more Frappe sites. After deployment, you can install apps, create sites, manage updates, and perform administrative tasks from the bench dashboard.
