Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Frappe Cloud account by requiring two forms of verification before you can sign in.
Current Support
At present, Frappe Cloud supports 2FA only through an Authenticator App.
Authenticator App
Frappe Cloud uses the Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) method for two-factor authentication.
A TOTP-compatible authenticator app generates a unique verification code that is valid for a short period of time. You must enter this code during sign-in or when managing your 2FA settings.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Follow these steps to enable 2FA for your account:
- Go to Settings.
- Click Enable next to the Enable 2FA option.
- Install a TOTP-compatible authenticator application on your mobile device or use a supported browser extension.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the screen using the authenticator app.
- Enter the verification code generated by the app to complete the setup.
Important
Back up your authenticator app, recovery keys, or encrypted vault if the application supports it. Losing access to your authenticator without a backup may permanently lock you out of your Frappe Cloud account.
Disable Two-Factor Authentication
To disable 2FA:
- Go to Settings.
- Click Disable next to the Disable 2FA option.
- Open your authenticator app.
- Enter the current verification code to confirm the action.
Security Warning
Disabling Two-Factor Authentication reduces the security of your account and makes it more vulnerable to unauthorized access.
Enforce 2FA for Your Team
Team administrators can require all team members to use Two-Factor Authentication before accessing the Frappe Cloud dashboard.
To enforce 2FA across your team:
- Go to Settings.
- Open the Team tab.
- Click the Settings button.
- Enable the Enforce 2FA option.
Once enabled, every team member will be prompted to configure Two-Factor Authentication before they can continue using the dashboard.
