Employee Attendance Tool in Frappe HR: Marking Attendance in Bulk

The Employee Attendance Tool lets you mark attendance for multiple employees at once for a particular date. Instead of creating an Attendance record per person, you can add records for a whole group quickly, filtered by Department and Branch for the day in question.

You will find it under Home > Human Resources > Attendance > Employee Attendance Tool.

BEFORE YOU START

It is advisable to set up the following first: Employee records, and your Department and Branch masters since the tool uses these to filter the employees you mark.

How to mark attendance using the tool

  1. Enter the Date.
  2. Select the Department and Branch (optional) to narrow down the list of employees.
  3. Select the Employees you want to mark.
  4. Mark them Present, Absent, or Half Day as required.
  5. You can also select the Shift and flag employees with Late Entry and Early Exit from this same view.

Below the tool, a Marked Attendance table shows everyone you have marked, along with their status. You can use the column filters to find a particular employee, or to see everyone with a particular status.

COMMON MISTAKE

As with regular attendance, you cannot mark attendance for future dates here either. The tool only works for the current day or past dates.

Once you mark attendance through the Employee Attendance Tool, each entry is saved as a normal Attendance record so the data lands in exactly the same place as if you had created the records individually.

TIP

Use the Department and Branch filters to mark a whole team in seconds for example, everyone in “Support” at the “Pune” branch present for the day — then handle the few exceptions (a half day, someone on leave) individually in the same view.

SUMMARY

The Employee Attendance Tool marks attendance for many employees at once for a single date. Set up your Employee, Department, and Branch records first, then enter the date, optionally filter by department and branch, select employees, and mark them Present, Absent, or Half Day with the option to set shift, late entry, and early exit. A Marked Attendance table with filters shows what you have recorded, and each entry is saved as a standard Attendance record. Future dates cannot be marked.
