Shift Schedule in Frappe HR: Defining Recurring Shift Patterns
A Shift Schedule lets you define recurring shift assignments based on selected days and a frequency. Instead of assigning the same shift over and over, you describe the pattern once, for example, a morning shift every weekday and use it to generate assignments.
BEFORE YOU START
Create the Shift Type first a schedule is built around an existing shift.
How to create a Shift Schedule
Go to Frappe HR > HR > Shift & Attendance > Shift Schedule:
- Click Add Shift Schedule.
- Enter the Name.
- Select the Shift Type.
- Select the Frequency.
- Select the Repeat On Days.
- Click Save, then Submit.
That defines the recurring pattern. On its own, a Shift Schedule is just the definition, it doesn’t assign anyone yet.
Assigning a Shift Schedule
To put a schedule to work, you assign it to employees, which generates the underlying shift assignments:
- Use a Shift Schedule Assignment to assign the schedule to an employee and create assignments from it.
- Use the Shift Assignment Tool to assign schedules in bulk to many employees at once.
TIP
Create a Shift Schedule for each repeating pattern you actually run “Weekday Mornings”, “Weekend Nights” and reuse it across employees. It’s far less error-prone than setting individual start and end dates on every Shift Assignment by hand.
