Module Visibility
ERPNext is designed to support businesses of all sizes across various industries, including Manufacturing, Retail, Education, Healthcare, Services, and more. To make navigation easier, related features are organized into modules, such as Accounting, CRM, Selling, Buying, Manufacturing, and Human Resources.
Users can customize which modules are visible based on their roles, permissions, and business requirements, allowing them to focus only on the modules they use regularly.
1. Managing Module Visibility
You can show or hide modules displayed on the Desk according to your preferences.
- Log in to ERPNext.
- Click Show / Hide Modules from the top-right corner of the Desk.
- Select the modules you want to display or hide.
- Save your changes.
The selected modules will appear in the sidebar or workspace area based on your preferences.
2. Automatic Module Visibility
ERPNext automatically hides modules for users who do not have permission to access any documents within those modules.
For example, if a user does not have permission to access documents such as:
- Purchase Orders
- Purchase Receipts
- Suppliers
the Buying module will not be displayed for that user.
3. Module Not Visible Even with Permissions
If you have permission to a module but it is still not visible, check the following:
Role Assignment
Ensure that the user has the appropriate role required for the module. For example, to access the Website module, the user should typically have the Website Manager role assigned.
If your organization uses customized permissions, verify the required roles using the Role Permission Manager and confirm that those roles are assigned to the user.
Allowed Modules
Open the user’s profile and verify that the required module is enabled under the Allow Modules setting.
If the module is disabled, enable it and save the changes.
4. Apply the Changes
After updating module permissions or visibility settings, reload or refresh your ERPNext session to apply the changes.
