E-Commerce Settings

Summary: E-Commerce Settings combines the legacy Shopping Cart Settings and Products Settings into a single configuration page. It allows you to manage product listings, shopping cart behavior, checkout, customer experience, filters, recommendations, and other storefront settings from one place.

The E-Commerce Settings page helps businesses configure their ERPNext web store. From controlling product visibility and checkout options to enabling wishlists, reviews, and product recommendations, these settings provide complete control over the online shopping experience.

Navigation
Search for E-Commerce Settings or Webshop Settings from the Awesome Bar to open the configuration page.

Products Per Page

Use this option to define how many products are displayed on each page of the All Products listing (/all-products).

Tip: Displaying fewer products per page improves page loading speed, while showing more products reduces page navigation for customers.

Filters and Categories

Filters help customers quickly find products based on specific attributes or item fields.

Field Filters

  • Enable Field Filters.
  • Select the Item fields that should appear as filters.
  • The selected fields are also used to build the Shop by Category page.

Attribute Filters

  • Enable Attribute Filters.
  • Select Item Attributes that customers can use while filtering products.
Result: Customers can browse products more efficiently using categories and dynamic filtering options.

Display Settings

Setting Description
Hide Variants Displays only Website Item Templates instead of individual variants.
Enable Variant Selection Allows customers to configure and choose product variants.
Show Price Displays item prices on product pages.
Show Stock Availability Displays whether an item is currently in stock.
Show Stock Quantity Displays available inventory quantity.
Allow Items Not in Stock Allows customers to add out-of-stock items to the shopping cart.
Show Apply Coupon Code Displays a coupon code option during checkout.
Show Contact Us Button Adds a contact button that creates a Lead for customer enquiries.
Show Public Attachments Displays public attachments in generated Sales Orders after checkout.
Note: Hide Variants can only be enabled when Attribute Filters are disabled.

Shopping Cart Settings

Configure how the shopping cart behaves for your online store.

  • Company — Select the company associated with the webshop.
  • Price List — Specify the price list used to display product prices.
  • Enable Shopping Cart — Allows customers to add products to their cart.
  • Default Customer Group — Automatically assigns newly created website customers to the selected customer group.
Best Practice: Always configure the correct Company and Price List before enabling the shopping cart to ensure accurate pricing.

Checkout Settings

These settings determine how orders are placed from the webshop.

Setting Purpose
Enable Checkout Creates a Sales Order instead of a Quotation when customers place an order.
Payment Gateway Account Select the configured payment gateway for online payments.
Payment Success URL Redirect customers after successful payment.
Show Price in Quotation Displays prices when checkout is disabled and quotations are generated.
Save Quotations as Draft Keeps automatically generated quotations in Draft status.
Important: If Enable Checkout is activated, a supported payment gateway such as PayPal or Razorpay must already be configured.

How it Works

  • Checkout Enabled → Customers place orders and ERPNext creates a Sales Order.
  • Checkout Disabled → Customers request a quotation instead of completing a purchase.

Add-ons

Enhance the customer shopping experience using optional webshop features.

  • Enable Wishlist — Allows customers to save products for future purchase.
  • Enable Reviews and Ratings — Lets customers leave product reviews and ratings.
  • Enable Recommendations — Displays manually selected recommended products.
Recommendation: Enabling reviews and recommendations can improve customer engagement and product discovery.

Shop By Category

ERPNext provides a built-in Shop By Category page that automatically lists categories based on the configured Field Filters.

You can also assign a slideshow banner to customize the appearance of the category page.

Tip: Well-organized categories make it easier for customers to browse large product catalogs.

Guest Display Settings

Control how visitors who are not logged in interact with your webshop.

  • Hide Price for Guest — Hide or display product prices for guest users.
  • Redirect on Action — Redirect guests attempting to add items to the cart or wishlist.
Example: Instead of redirecting guests to the default /login page, you can redirect them to a custom page such as /contact-us or another web form.
