Project Customer Portal
When a project is executed for a customer, it becomes important to keep them updated on progress at regular intervals. ERPNext provides this capability through the Customer Portal, which allows customers to view project-related information directly.
Through the portal, customers can track tasks, monitor progress, and view relevant time and activity records associated with their project in real time.
The Customer Portal improves transparency by allowing clients to independently monitor project progress without requiring manual updates from internal teams.
Add User as a Website User
To enable portal access, the customer must be registered as a Website User in ERPNext. This allows them to log in and access their assigned project information.
Customers can also sign up directly using the ERPNext login page if their email address matches the one stored in the Contact record. Additionally, users can be invited using the Invite User option from the Contact form.
Assign Customer and Users in Project
Inside the Project form, customer access is managed under the Customer Details section.
- Select the Customer associated with the project.
- Link the relevant Sales Order tied to the project scope.
- Add authorized users in the Project Users table who should have access to the project portal view.
Only users added in the Project Users table or registered as Website Users can access project information through the Customer Portal.
Customer Portal View
Once logged in, customers can view all tasks associated with their project along with related timesheets and progress updates.
They can also interact with the project by updating task status or adding comments where permitted, enabling two-way communication between the customer and project team.
The Customer Portal ensures real-time visibility of project progress, improving client trust and reducing the need for manual status reporting.
