Plant Floor
Plant Floor is a visual manufacturing dashboard in ERPNext that helps monitor the real-time status of machines, workstations, job cards, and inventory within a manufacturing plant. It provides a graphical representation of the shop floor, allowing production teams to quickly identify machine availability, monitor ongoing operations, and manage manufacturing activities from a centralized interface.
Besides displaying workstation activity, the Plant Floor also provides stock visualization and enables users to process Job Cards directly from the graphical layout, making shop floor management more efficient.
Prerequisites
Before using the Plant Floor feature, ensure the following records are available:
- Plant Floor
- Workstation
- Machine (created from a Workstation)
- Warehouse
- Job Card
Setting Up a Plant Floor
To configure the Plant Floor:
- Create a new Plant Floor from the Manufacturing module.
- Select the warehouse associated with that manufacturing area.
- Create machines using existing Workstations and assign them to the Plant Floor.
- Configure illustrations or icons representing the workstation’s active and inactive states.
- Save the configuration.
Once configured, ERPNext displays the complete manufacturing layout with all machines and workstations on the Plant Floor dashboard.
Visualizing Machine and Workstation Status
The Plant Floor provides a graphical representation of all machines assigned to a manufacturing area.
Users can quickly identify:
- Active workstations.
- Inactive workstations.
- Current production activities.
- Machine availability for new jobs.
This visual interface helps supervisors monitor the production floor without reviewing multiple manufacturing documents.
Visualizing Stock Summary
The Plant Floor also provides an overview of inventory available within the associated manufacturing warehouse.
Using the Stock Summary view, users can:
- View available inventory.
- Monitor stock allocated to the Plant Floor.
- Add stock.
- Move stock between locations.
This enables production teams to manage material availability directly from the manufacturing dashboard.
Visualizing Job Cards
The Plant Floor displays Job Cards associated with the workstations and machines.
Users can:
- View ongoing manufacturing operations.
- Track production progress.
- Process Job Cards directly from the Plant Floor interface.
- Monitor work assigned to each workstation.
This eliminates the need to navigate through multiple manufacturing documents while supervising production.
