Asset Reports

ERPNext provides several reports to help organizations monitor asset values, depreciation, and lifecycle activities. These reports offer insights into asset performance, depreciation history, current book value, and movement, making it easier to manage fixed assets and prepare financial statements.

1. Asset Depreciation Ledger

The Asset Depreciation Ledger report provides a detailed summary of depreciation transactions for assets during a selected period.

The report includes:

  • Purchase Amount
  • Depreciated Amount
  • Total Accumulated Depreciation
  • Current Book Value
  • Current Depreciation Status

This report is useful for tracking how much depreciation has been booked against each asset and understanding its remaining value.

2. Asset Depreciations and Balances

The Asset Depreciations and Balances report provides a financial overview of assets within a selected reporting period.

It displays information such as:

  • Asset Cost
  • Opening and Closing Asset Value
  • Depreciation Booked
  • Net Book Value
  • Accumulated Depreciation

The report supports flexible grouping and filtering options to simplify asset analysis.

2.1 Group by Asset Category

Grouping by Asset Category summarizes depreciation and asset balances for each category, making it easier to analyze classes of assets such as Machinery, Vehicles, Furniture, or Computers.

2.2 Group by Asset

Grouping by Asset displays depreciation details for every individual asset, allowing users to review the complete financial history of each asset separately.

3. Fixed Asset Register

The Fixed Asset Register provides a comprehensive list of all assets maintained in ERPNext along with their current status.

The register includes both active and disposed assets, making it a complete reference for asset records.

Assets are generally categorized as:

  • In Location – Assets that are currently owned and available within the organization.
  • Disposed – Assets that have been sold, scrapped, or otherwise removed from service.

The report helps organizations maintain an up-to-date inventory of fixed assets while tracking their lifecycle status.

4. Asset Activity

The Asset Activity report provides a chronological history of every transaction performed on an asset.

Activities displayed may include:

  • Asset Creation
  • Asset Movement
  • Maintenance
  • Repairs
  • Depreciation Entries
  • Value Adjustments
  • Sales
  • Scrapping

This report serves as a complete audit trail, allowing users to review every significant event in an asset’s lifecycle from acquisition to disposal.
