Asset Location in ERPNext
The Asset Location DocType in ERPNext is used to define the physical locations where company assets are stored or used. Organizations often operate across multiple offices, factories, warehouses, branches, or project sites, and Asset Locations help track where each asset is currently assigned.
By assigning assets to specific locations, businesses can improve asset visibility, simplify audits, monitor asset movements, and maintain accurate records across multiple facilities.
Asset Locations provide a centralized way to track where every asset is physically located throughout its lifecycle.
To access the Asset Location list, navigate to:
Home > Asset > Assets > Asset Location

Adding Latitude and Longitude enables ERPNext to display the location on an interactive map for easier identification.
4. Moving Assets Between Locations
Assets often move between offices, warehouses, or project sites during their lifecycle.
Whenever an asset changes its physical location, ERPNext recommends recording the transfer using an Asset Movement document.
The Asset Movement record helps:
- Maintain the current location of the asset.
- Track movement history.
- Improve audit accuracy.
- Maintain complete asset traceability.
5. Benefits of Using Asset Locations
Managing Asset Locations provides several operational advantages:
- Track where every asset is currently located.
